Dear Family and Friends,
Did you know that one out of every seven Israeli kids is chronically hungry? An organization called Pantry Packers has been tackling this problem for years. Every month Pantry Packers delivers crates containing all the necessary foods and household maintenance supplies to about 8,500 of Israel’s poorest families and senior citizens.
My family and I were recently in Israel for my Bar Mitzvah. During our trip, we volunteered at Pantry Packers in Jerusalem. We helped package bags of whole-wheat pasta to be shipped to needy families throughout Israel. It felt really good to know that I was helping those in need and it was one of the highlights of our trip.
After spending an afternoon at this wonderful organization, I decided that these people need all the help that they can get. In honor of my Bar Mitzvah, I have chosen to raise money for Pantry Packers. Every penny that is raised goes directly to buying and delivering basic foods and household supplies to Israel’s poorest families. I have set a goal to raise at least $5,400 and I would really appreciate your help so that we can make sure that needy families have food for Pesach and throughout the year. I am starting by donating $200 of my own towards this goal but truly no donation is too small. By way of example, $48 provides one month of food supplies to a needy family.
