Jonah's Bar Mitzvah Project
Jonah Kazam
In lieu of receiving gifts for my bar mitzvah, I would like to raise money to help children in less fortunate communities in Israel. While volunteering at a daycare center in Manhattan through the Heschel School, I became aware of how lucky I am to have a safe clean home to live in and school to attend. I realized how we take “simple” things for granted, like having working air conditioning and clean toys in a classroom or most important, the loving support of our family at home and teachers in school. This made me want to help other kids to have the same opportunities for success that I have, starting at a young age, by offering quality daycare for less fortunate families.
With your help, I would like to raise funds to supply a daycare center for disadvantaged young children in Lod, Israel.
Many families living in Lod are living in very poor economic conditions and have single mothers living at or below poverty level.
Without proper daycare for infants and pre-schoolers, employment for struggling mothers would be impossible. The daycare center that we will be raising money for is run by Collel Chabad and will care for young children aged 1–3 years old, until they are ready to enter the Israeli school system. All children are welcome to attend regardless of religious observance. The only pre-requisite is that they meet certain economic criteria.
Every dollar I raise will advance the life of these young children by providing a clean and safe environment when their parents are at work.
The daycare center is newly built but is in need of supplies to get up and running. We will be buying new furniture, sleeping cots, tables and chairs, toys, art supplies and playground equipment to supply the new facility.
My goal is to supply this new center with all of the toys and furniture it needs to get up and running.
Thank you for your help in reaching my goal!
Sincerely,
Jonah Kazam
