Dear Family and Friends,

One out of every seven Israeli kids is chronically hungry. And one organization is doing something about this – Pantry Packers. They live up to their name by literally filling the pantries of Israel’s poorest families every single month with all the staples and basics needed to prevent hunger.

We were recently in Israel where my Dad and I volunteered at the Pantry Packers plant in Jerusalem. We helped fill bags of rice and beans which were then sealed and packed in boxes to be shipped to needy families throughout Israel. It felt really good to know that I was helping those in need. I recommend that you all go to Pantry Packers on your next visit to Yerushalim as it was one of the highlights of our trip.

In honor of my Bar Mitzvah chesed project, I have chosen to raise money for Pantry Packers through our very own Virtual Food Drive. Every penny that is raised goes directly to buying and delivering basic foods and household supplies to Israel’s neediest – large families, lonely Holocaust survivors, new immigrants, and people just down on their luck. I have set a goal to raise at least $3,600 and I would really appreciate your help so that we can make sure that needy families have food for Pesach and throughout the year.
